To each his own footpath on the Rigi
Some tours are well known around the world, but you don't have to stay on the beaten track. As soon as you have left the train station, you can go your own way and enjoy the tranquillity of nature.

The panoramic high-level trail from Rigi Kaltbad to Rigi Scheidegg is a winter dream. The hiking trail lies on the route of the former railway line (1874 to 1931). Apart from the slight gradient at the end before the Rigi Scheidegg, the path is flat and therefore ideal for pleasure hikers. On the way you can discover many witnesses of the former railway, so the route leads over old railway bridges and through a tunnel. There is also a disused passenger car, which today serves as a holiday home, a water filling station for the steam locomotives and a few kilometre panels. From Scheidegg you can take the cable car via Kräbel back to Goldau or from Burggeist towards Gersau.

The snowshoe tours on Rigi Scheidegg-Burggeist are among the secret favourites of all snow sports enthusiasts. The paths are not groomed, but guarantee an incomparable mountain experience on untouched paths. Snowshoes and poles can be hired at the mountain guesthouse Rigi Burggeist, where you can stop by Katja and Thomas at the end of the tour.
