Challenging MTB tour, suitable for eMountainbike

Mountain bikers love the adventurous Cardada circuit. It is a challenging, but attractive ride in the surroundings of Cardada and Val Resa with start and finish in Locarno. The SwitzerlandMobility route No. 397 offers impressive views over Lake Maggiore, but also demands a certain amount of fitness - an easier tour can be put together with the cable car.

The route starts right at the SBB railway station in Locarno-Muralto and in the first section leads along a pleasant gradient on asphalt road to the village of Monte Brè. A somewhat steeper stretch follows and then the first part of the single trail up to Alpe Cardada begins. At the top station of the cable car a visit to the panoramic pier of Cardada is a must. The "Passerelle" between the treetops of the underlying forest rises at its end, so to speak, into the airless space and offers a breathtaking 180-degree panorama of the lake, the Centovalli and, if visibility is good, to the Valais Alps in the west.

From the alp with the Capanna Lo Stallone (restaurant) you ride quite fast and over technically demanding serpentines to Val Resa. Coming out of the dense forest, the road then leads back to the starting point over a beautiful stretch, with renewed panoramic views of Lake Maggiore and the town of Locarno. The route is technically moderately demanding. It has passages with varying degrees of difficulty as well as easier and gliding sections.
