The Schlern - in Eldorado for nature lovers.

Although it is not one of the highest mountains in the Dolomites with its maximum height of 2564 metres, the Sciliar is considered to be the symbol of South Tyrol. The reason for this is certainly its striking silhouette, the side profile of which consists of the clumsy ridge and the two towers in front of it - the Santner and Euringer peaks. The Sciliar massif lies about 20 kilometres northeast of Bolzano and overlooks the largest high pasture in Europe, the Alpe di Siusi, to which a modern cable car runs from Siusi.

Since 1974 the Sciliar has been a nature reserve, which has since been extended into the Sciliar-Rosengarten Nature Park. The extensive Seiser Alm is particularly popular with hikers, cross-country skiers and snowboarders. The Sciliar itself, with its Sciliar houses and its highest peak, the Petz, is also a popular hiking destination, especially in summer and autumn, although the ascent here is much more strenuous. The reward for your efforts are unforgettable nature experiences and a magnificent view of the unique Dolomite landscape.

The tourist resorts of Ortisei in Val Gardena, Castelrotto, Siusi and Völs lie at the foot of the Sciliar. The latter is a popular destination for camper vans and motorhomes both in summer and winter, as winter camping was invented here. On the traditional Camping Seiser Alm, 950 metres above sea level, camping guests have a direct view of the Schlern Group and the breathtaking mountain landscape all around. It is a World Heritage Site. With a little luck you can also watch the famous alpenglow in the evening.

In front of the barrier of the comfort camping site, which is also known for its excellent gastronomy, a former horse paddock serves as a camper site. There is also a disposal station.

Arrival:
Via the Brenner motorway, exit Bozen-Nord. Continue in the direction of Blumau and then Völs. There 3.5 kilometres further to the district St. Konstantin. The campsite is on the left-hand side.

Further tip:
From the Camping Seiser Alm you can easily reach the idyllic lake Völser Weiher. It is one of the cleanest bathing lakes in Italy and lies at about 1000 metres above sea level at the foot of the Sciliar.
