On the way in the border triangle.

The historic old town of Lindau, the charming little town in the Bavarian part of Lake Constance, stands on an island in the triangle of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. It can be reached via a 150-metre-long pier. Many postcard motifs can be seen here in a very small space. For example the harbour entrance with the lighthouse built in 1856 on one side and the stone Bavarian lion on the other, the Mangturm covered with coloured bricks, the Thebsturm or the Old Town Hall from 1422 decorated with splendid facade paintings. The many venerable patrician houses on Maximilianstrasse are reminiscent of the glorious times of Lindaus as a free imperial city.

The idyllic location of the town on Lake Constance and the nearby mountain scenery of the Alps are impressive. In addition, many attractive destinations along Lake Constance can be easily reached from here, such as the flower island of Mainau near Constance or the picturesque town of Meersburg. On the Lake Constance cycle path, the lake can be circumnavigated over a distance of 260 kilometres.

For camper vans there is a parking place for 16 mobiles in the district of Reutin on car park P1, Blauwiese, about two kilometres from the centre of Lindau. In addition, the two Lindau campsites - Park-Camping in the Zech district and Gitzenweiler Hof in the Gitzenweiler district - have mobile home parking spaces in front of the barrier. In addition, the two facilities offer camping guests plenty of comfort. A nice alternative to visiting Lindau is to arrive by boat from the Lake Constance fleet. Campers will find both moorings and pitches in Überlingen, Meersburg, Friedrichshafen, Kressbronn and Constance.
